on the I Ching Eight trigrams, each representing a different environmental element, form the basis of the I Ching or book of Changes. The trigrams are cast two at a time to form one of 64 possibilities that describe energy conditions and appropriate actions. The I Ching is more than 3,000 years old and provides profound insights into the natural cycles of power and interrelationships we all experience. Many translations of the I Ching exist today but my favourite translation is still the I Ching Workbook by R. L. Wing. His interpretations of the hexagrams describe their energy and moral principles in language that can be easily understood and applied in a modern context. Developing your understanding of these principles is an important part of the awareness and self-cultivation necessary for meditation and spiritual development. An easy way to work with the I Ching is to meditate on the energy of each Trigram to understand its contribution to different life situations. For fun and reflection I have created this synchronicity reading you can try to get to know the energy of the trigram elements. |
