Many of China's historical texts are inscribed on stones or steles. These
are often carried on the back of a turtle such as this one at Gong Cheng
in Southern China. |

| In China the turtle is
a symbol of longevity. It moves between two worlds, land and sea
and carries it's own protection. When I encounter a turtle on my
path I go deeply into meditation to retrieve valuable messages of
wisdom and endurance. |

The Language of
Intuition
Many people practice meditation because they would like to develop their
intuition. They want to confirm their relationship to their higher selves
and get the guidance and insight they need to feel that they are working
in alignment with their destiny.
Intuition is like a language. It takes time to understand what is
being said and to learn to speak it fluently. Everyone has their own
language and the journey into awareness is personal.
People I have worked with describe a variety of different ways they
receive messages such as:
-
gut feelings - receiving
messages through feeling either relaxed or tense in the area of their
lower tan tien.
-
object flares - for some
reason a particular object seems to call their attention.
Focusing on the object helps to reveal a message.
-
inner dialogue - by simply
asking a question, an answer is received in words, images or feelings.
-
visual imagery - in a
meditative state, images appear that hold information about a
situation, event or issue.
-
pop-ins - out of the blue, an
idea or impulse 'pops' in to consciousness and is acted on.
-
readings from nature - certain
animals, flowers, cloud patterns etc. hold meaning through the timing
of their appearance or synchronicity and configuration.
Many students use more than one
language to communicate with their intuition but something they all have
in common is that they listen, take time to develop their understanding
and respect the information they have been given.
One way you can begin your journey
is to learn something about what symbols mean. You can compare this
task with learning the 'abc' of a new language. Later you will learn
not just how to repeat words but how to apply them meaningfully to your
own situation.
